Jay L. Johnson is an experienced attorney, having twenty years of experience in practice before Courts and administrative agencies throughout the State of Tennessee and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He represents a wide variety of clients, from parties as small as individuals to international businesses listed as some of the largest in the world.
Jay's law practice covers a wide variety of client legal needs, including workers' compensation, personal injury, real estate disputes, contracts, and other civil litigation matters. He also handles transactional matters regarding business formation and operation and real estate transactions. He also assists clients in establishing estate planning documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and living trusts.
Jay provides full service real estate closing services for residential and commercial property. A full range of settlement services is available, including title examinations, mortgage closings, and cash transactions. He is also an Authorized Policy Issuing Agent for Old Republic Title Insurance Company.
He also has a significant practice focus on Firearms Law and Second Amendment Rights issues, including assisting clients with National Firearms Act Gun Trusts. Jay is a Benefactor Life Member of the National Rifle Association.
He additionally works in alternative dispute resolution through mediation, and is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator.
Prior to opening Johnson Law Firm in October 2013, Jay was an associate attorney for a large, Southeast regional law firm, in-house legal counsel for an international insurance carrier, and a Workers' Compensation Specialist for the State of Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
Jay is a graduate of The University of Memphis, with bachelor's degrees in English and political science, and earned his law degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville. He is licensed to practice law in both Tennessee and Kentucky.
Jay has been married to his lovely wife Ashley since 2001, and they have two children.
